About Us
Dwight Candle Co. is a small, woman-owned candle company based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Every candle is hand-poured by me in small batches, using the highest quality ingredients ensuring a clean and longer-lasting burn.
Why Dwight Candle Co.?
I started Dwight Candle Co. with a pretty simple idea: if we’re going to burn something for hours at a time in our homes, the ingredients should matter. There are a lot of ways to make a candle, and not all candles are made with the same materials. I wanted Dwight candles to be made with thoughtfully selected ingredients without sacrificing the strong fragrance and atmosphere that make us love candles in the first place.
100% Soy Wax.
Instead of using paraffin wax, our candles are made with soy wax—a plant-based wax derived from soybeans. Soy wax has a relatively low melting point and generally burns more slowly than harder, higher-melting waxes, helping you get more time out of your candle when it’s burned properly.
Paraben + Phthalate-Free Fragrance Oils.
Fragrance is a huge part of a candle, but what goes into creating that fragrance matters to us just as much. We carefully select fragrance oils formulated without parabens and phthalates. The goal is to create use a clean formulated fragrance while maintaining a scent that can actually fill a room.
Hemp Wicks Coated in Beeswax.
We use natural-fiber hemp wicks coated in beeswax rather than a traditional cotton-wick. Hemp wicks are known for their slow and steady burn to help prevent tunneling. It’s one more small detail that contributes to the way the finished candle performs.
Small Batch REALLY MEANS Small Batch.
“Hand-poured” isn’t just something we put on the label. There isn’t a factory or an assembly line behind Dwight Candle Co. Each candle is made in small batches here in Milwaukee. The vessels are wicked, the wax is melted and blended with fragrance, each candle is poured, and the finished product is prepared by hand. It takes longer that way. But that’s kind of the point. Small-batch production allows me to pay attention to the little things like the ingredients, fragrance combinations, wick performance, finished appearance and all of the details that can get lost when something is being produced by the thousands.
Made in Milwaukee. Made by a real person.
When you buy a Dwight candle, you’re supporting an independent, woman-owned Milwaukee business. You’re not buying something that came off a massive production line and eventually landed on a store shelf. You’re buying something that was made by someone who genuinely cares about what went into it, how it burns, how it smells and how it feels in your home. I want Dwight Candle Co. to feel like the opposite of disposable, mass-produced home fragrance.
