How do I choose the right fragrance?

Each fragrance description is thoughtfully written to help you imagine the experience before lighting your candle. If you’re still unsure, we’d be happy to recommend a scent you’ll love.

I’m buying a gift. Which candle should I choose?

If you’re unsure which fragrance someone would enjoy, we recommend choosing one of our customer favorites or a clean, widely loved scent. Feel free to reach out for a personalized recommendation—we’re always happy to help.

What size candle should I buy?

Every size has its purpose.

·       4 oz. Tin
Perfect for travel, gifting, smaller spaces, or trying a new fragrance.

·       9 oz. Jar
Our everyday candle, ideal for bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, and thoughtful gifts.

·       16 oz. Jar
Perfect for larger spaces and anyone who enjoys burning candles often.

·       22 oz. Bowl
Our statement piece, designed to fill your home with fragrance while becoming a timeless vessel you can continue using long after the candle is finished.

 

Can I mix different fragrances and sizes in one order?

Absolutely! Many customers enjoy choosing several fragrances and sizes for different rooms, seasons, moods, or gifts. Mixing and matching is a great way to experience everything Dwight Candle Co. has to offer.

Do you offer seasonal fragrances?

Yes! Throughout the year, we release limited seasonal collections inspired by holidays and the changing seasons. Because many seasonal candles are produced in small batches, once they’re gone, they may not return until the following year—if they return at all.

Reusing Your Vessel:

What should I do with my empty candle vessel?

One of our favorite parts of creating candles is choosing vessels that can continue to be enjoyed long after the final burn.

Depending on the size and style, your vessel may be repurposed as a:

• Small planter
• Makeup brush holder
• Bathroom organizer
• Cotton swab or cotton pad holder
• Coffee-station container
• Pen cup
• Desk organizer
• Jewelry holder
• Kitchen container
• Decorative accent

Beautiful objects deserve a second life. Repurposing your vessel is one small way to reduce waste while adding a functional and timeless piece to your home.

How do I remove leftover wax from my vessel?

Discontinue burning your candle when approximately ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom.

To remove the remaining wax:

1. Allow the candle and wax to cool completely
2. Place the vessel in the freezer for several hours
3. Gently loosen and remove the hardened wax using a spoon or dull butter knife
4. Remove the wick base carefully
5. Wash the vessel with warm, soapy water
6. Use a small amount of rubbing alcohol or cooking oil to remove any remaining wick adhesive

Never place a cold glass vessel directly into hot water, as sudden temperature changes may cause the glass to crack.

Are your candles handmade?

Yes! Every candle is hand-poured in small batches in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Because each candle is individually crafted, slight variations in appearance are natural and make every candle uniquely yours.

What are your candles made with?

• 100% natural soy wax
• Premium phthalate-free fragrance oils, including fragrances infused with essential oils
• Long-burning hemp wicks
• Carefully selected glass, ceramic, vintage, repurposed, and recyclable tin vessels
• Eco-conscious packaging, including kraft paper, recycled newspaper, and recyclable shipping materials whenever possible

Why do you use soy wax?

We chose natural soy wax because it creates a clean, beautiful burn while allowing our fragrances to shine. Soy wax also tends to burn more slowly than many paraffin-based waxes, helping you enjoy your candle longer when it is burned and cared for properly.

Why do you use hemp wicks?

Our hemp wicks pair beautifully with natural soy wax and create an even, consistent flame. With proper candle care, hemp wicks can also help minimize excess soot and support a longer-lasting, enjoyable burn.

Are your fragrance oils thoughtfully selected?

Yes. Our fragrance oils are carefully selected to create beautiful, memorable scents while meeting our standards for quality.

The fragrance oils we use are:

• Phthalate-free
• Prop 65 compliant
• Cruelty-free
• Vegan

Some fragrances also contain essential oils.

Are your candles safe to burn around pets?

Every pet is different and may have individual sensitivities to fragrances. We recommend burning candles in a well-ventilated room, keeping them out of reach of pets, and never leaving a burning candle unattended. If your pet has allergies, asthma, respiratory sensitivities, or another health condition, consult your veterinarian before using fragranced products in your home.

Why does my soy candle have white spots or look frosted?

Natural soy wax may occasionally develop frosting, white spots, or slight texture variations. These cosmetic changes are completely normal and are a natural characteristic of soy wax. Frosting does not affect the fragrance, performance, or quality of your candle.

What if I don’t like the fragrance?

Fragrance is incredibly personal, so we cannot accept returns on used candles based on scent preference alone. If you’re unsure what to choose, we’re always happy to recommend fragrances based on scents you already enjoy.
